Sport Wales Launches Energy Saving Grant for Sport Clubs in Wales

Funding for sports clubs in Wales to help them become more energy efficient and thus save money

Sport Wales has launched a new grant scheme to help sports clubs save money by becoming more energy efficient.

Not-for-profit sports clubs and community groups in Wales can apply for grants of up to £25,000. Clubs must own their facility or have a minimum of a 10-year lease on the building.

The grants can be used for energy-saving improvements to buildings including:

  • Solar panels.
  • Insulation/building fabrics.
  • Lighting (excluding playing/training floodlights).
  • Improved heating and hot water systems.
  • Sustainable water sourcing.

Successful applicants must contribute a minimum of 20% of the project total costs.

The projects must be completed within 12 months of receiving the grant, and funding will be provided for projects that are able to start within the financial year ending 31 March 2024.

There is a two-stage application process.

The deadline for stage one applications is 28 June 2023 (4pm).
