Sport Wales Invites Applications to New £1m Fund
Sport Wales in partnership with Welsh Government has launched the new £1 million ‘A Place for Sport’ fund.
This new capital fund aims to help modernise sports facilities across Wales and supports the Welsh Government’s vision of an active nation where everyone has a chance to enjoy a lifetime of sport.
There is no minimum or maximum award.
The funding can be used for the following project types:
Building works
Environmental efficiencies
Equipment
Facility upgrade
Floodlighting
Maintenance work
Pitch works
Playing areas
Professional fees
Replacement/resurface/repair
Skateparks
Storage
Other
Projects must be completed by 31 March 2020.
Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism Dafydd Elis -Thomas said:
“Modern, accessible and sustainable facilities are important if we are to encourage and support people of all ages to lead healthy and active lives.
“We know the positive impact sport can have on our health and wellbeing, whether it’s as a participant, a volunteer or a spectator. Sport also plays an important part in binding communities, giving young people aspiration, raising our international profile and creating economic benefits for Wales. With this investment, we hope we will create a place for sport for more people.”
The deadline for applications is 28 June 2019.
