Sea-Changer’s Coastal Fountain Fund Reopens for 2023

Not-for-profit organisations across the United Kingdom can apply for funding to cover the purchase of a water foundation to help reduce pollution and the use of non-reusable plastics in coastal communities.

Sea Changers is offering grants of up to £2500 for community groups and other not-for-profit organisations to help prevent negative impacts on UK coastal and marine environments and species by reducing marine litter through the provision of well-located coastal water fountains that will significantly reduce the use of non-reusable plastic drinks bottles.

Through the Coastal Foundation Fund, groups can receive support to cover the cost of purchasing a water fountain unit for installation in a busy or environmentally important coastal location, assessed against the following criteria:

  • Need and impact – fountains should be placed in areas which either:
    • Have significant public use/a lot of littering.
    • Are of environmental importance or status.
  • Viability to be operational within 2023.
  • Sustainability.
  • Value for money.

Funding is for the costs of purchasing a water foundation only, rather than for installation or maintenance costs.

The deadline for applications is 28 February 2023.
