Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme Launches Soon

Funded by the Scottish Government and administered by Digital Scotland, the Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme (SBVS) aims to help ensure every home and business in Scotland will have access to superfast broadband of 30 Megabits per second (Mbps) by the end of 2021.

The SBVS will provide two distinct levels of subsidy:

A voucher worth up to £5,000 to help deliver a permanent broadband connection to those properties for which there is no roll-out of superfast broadband planned.

A voucher worth up to £400 to help deliver an interim connection to those properties for which there is roll-out of superfast broadband planned, but not until after the end of 2021. Properties in more difficult-to-reach locations may be eligible for an additional subsidy of £250.

The scheme will be open to businesses and homes in Scotland. An online postcode checker has been launched to give businesses information on superfast roll-out in their area as well as providing information on voucher scheme eligibility.

Further details will be reported when the scheme opens in September 2020.
