Prison and Probation Service Grants Programme 2020-22 Opens for Applications

The HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) Grants Programme 2020-22 has recently opened for applications. Funding is available for voluntary organisations to develop and test out approaches which complement core provisions for people in the criminal justice system and enhance outcomes for service users.

A total of £2.5 million is available and registered charities, exempt charities and social enterprises can apply for grants of between £50,000 and £250,000 to trial new ideas and approaches or develop current programmes within new settings or with a new group of service users.

Organisations can submit applications for funding in one or more of the following areas:

Improving support for families and significant others.

Improving outcomes for those with protected characteristics (£250,000 of the Grants Programme has been ringfenced for an organisation to identify and manage other VCSE organisations to deliver a programme addressing this theme across multiple sites and settings. Other lower value bids for this theme will also be considered.)

Improving health and well-being.

Improving safer custody across the prison estate.

Projects can take place in any prison, with any National Probation Client and/or within the Youth estate. They may be limited to one prison, one probation area/office or cover multiple sites.

The deadline for applications is 1 November 2019 (10am).
