Nuclear Fuel Fund (NFF)

Closing Date: –

Due to open in autumn 2022, this new fund is designed to boost the production of fuel for nuclear reactors in the UK.

The Nuclear Fuel Fund aims to preserve the UK front-end nuclear fuel cycle capability, to support the Government’s ambition to increase civil nuclear deployment to up to 24GW by 2050.

The Fund will award grants to projects that can increase the UK’s domestic nuclear fuel sector, reducing the need for foreign imports and creating the material used in nuclear power stations to generate electricity – with funding going towards designing and developing new facilities.

The Fund will make targeted de-risking investments into projects that can enable the UK’s nuclear fuel capability to meet future demand.

The Government is currently asking parties to register their interest in bidding for funding and inviting further information on the sector’s investment needs.
