New Catalyst Award Launched for Scotland’s Young Entrepreneurs

The Catalyst Award has been established to help early-stage entrepreneurs and innovators fast-track their innovative business idea towards commercialisation. The scheme is designed for ideas that are on their way and will give them an ‘extra push’ at this critical early-stage.

The judges will be looking for evidence of new technology or the clever application of current processes and/or existing technology that can exploit the potential of new markets. There is a preference for advanced engineering or design, which could include software development.

Two grants of £4,000 each will be awarded to winners. In addition to the cash awards, the winners will be assigned a mentor who will provide continuity of support for two years.

Applications are invited from those currently residing or intending to launch a start-up in the West of Scotland, which will be the focus of this award in its inaugural year. Entrants must be students or recent graduates of universities and colleges in Scotland and between 18-30 years of age.

The deadline for applications is 27 May 2019.
