LGA Annual Conference 2019
It has been a pleasure to attend the LGA annual conference 2019 this week in sunny Bournemouth.
Over the three days we listened to lots of sessions, including plenary speeches from two Secretary’s of State and the Governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, who used Shakespeare as the backdrop of his speech on global slow down, and the response to a no deal Brexit.
There were calls for “devolution revolution”, stability with capital funding rather than short-term revenue funds, and desperation over the delay of the social care green paper.
The general consensus from the event was that while the overall picture is bleak, there are hundreds of local authority leaders who just want to get on with the job and are doing so regardless of uncertainty of the future of public sector funding and delivery.
We are in the process of publishing an overview and reflections of the event in due course. Look out for the article on our Funding Views page.
GRANTfinder enjoyed meeting everyone, showcasing our solutions, and having great discussions with local councils about external funding.
We look forward to seeing everyone again next year in Harrogate!
