Innovate UK Boosts Cyber Resilience in UK Energy Networks with Digital Twins

Innovate UK’s Digital Twin Energy Grids Competition supports collaborative projects that enable digital twins, data interoperability and cyber resilience in the UK energy networks.

Up to £1.2 million has been allocated to fund industrial research, and experimental development projects in end user or real-world conditions. A project’s total grant funding request must be between £100,000 and £300,000.

The competition is open to collaborations only. To lead a project, an organisation must be a UK registered business of any size, or be or involve at least one grant claiming micro, small or medium-sized enterprise (SME). The lead should conduct its project in the UK and have an impact on the UK electricity network.

IUK welcomes collaborative applications from cybersecurity, data and digital twin SMEs from outside the energy sector, and encourages collaborations with UKRI’s Building a Secure and Resilient World (BSRW) projects and related initiatives.

To collaborate with the lead, an organisation must be a UK registered business of any size, academic institution, charity, not for profit, public sector organisation, research and technology organisation (RTO), or licensed energy company or regulator.
