Great Western Railway Reopens Customer and Community Improvement Fund for 2024

Great Western Railway (GWR) is offering grants of up to £50,000 for community and voluntary groups, local authorities, and not-for-profit organisations to deliver a wide range of small to medium-sized projects that benefit communities across the GWR network.

For the 2024/25 funding round, priority will be given to projects that:

  • Benefit customers.
  • Increase rail travel.
  • Encourage carbon reduction.
  • Connect communities, people, and places.
  • Support economic growth.
  • Promote inclusion and diversity.
  • Support careers in rail or increase awareness and experience of public transport and rail safety.

Schools, colleges, and universities can apply for funding to support projects working in education that can be delivered until the end of the academic year (July 2025).

Smaller applications for less than £1,000 are welcomed as GWR would like various small-scale projects providing a local benefit across the GWR network.

Proposed projects must be completed by 31 March 2025.
