Fusion Fund for Professional Musicians – New Rounds Announced

Help Musicians UK (HMUK) operates the Fusion Fund, providing financial support for professional musicians to undertake projects that develop and test new work, ideas or potential career directions through inspiring periods of collaborative research and development.

HMUK is looking for collaborations that create work across art forms, creative sectors and other disciplines. Applications must be music-focused, and projects should include contributions from at least one non-music discipline, for example storytellers, lighting designers, choreographers, technologists, scientists, gaming designers, theatre directors, visual artists etc. The funder is also interested in seeing applications that consider ‘unusual and extraordinary spaces’ to show work to new audiences.

The Fusion Fund can award between £2,000 and £5,000 per application. Within the application, applicants may include costs for the following:

Venue and rehearsal space costs

Recording costs (live or documentation)

Travel costs

Access costs

Accommodation costs

Subsistence

Fees for musicians, artists or collaborators time to allow for the project to happen

Any other reasonable costs associated with the project

UK-based professional and emerging professional musicians, of all genres and disciplines, may apply. Applicants can be a solo instrumentalists, conductors, composers, vocalists, singer-songwriters or multidisciplinary artists. HMUK can also support bands or ensembles with six members or fewer.

There are to be three rounds in 2020. The next deadline to submit an application is 23 March 2020.
