Funding for Scottish Food and Drink Businesses to Meet Net Zero Challenge

A national funding programme is inviting applications

Funding is available to support food and drink businesses in Scotland to accelerate their journey towards Net Zero and improve their environmental sustainability utilising the knowledge base and facilities across Scottish universities, research institutes and colleges.

Applications will be accepted from businesses of any size working in or supporting the Scottish food and drink sector to partner with Scottish academia. Applications should be submitted by the lead Scottish academic institution (university, research institute or college) on behalf of the industry/business partners.

Funding awards of up to £10,000 are available. Projects are welcomed across the food and drink supply chain including:

  • Primary production.
  • Manufacturing.
  • Food service.
  • Retail.
  • Technology.

It is anticipated that projects will cover a range of issues such as:

  • Food waste.
  • Waste valorisation
  • Water usage
  • Sustainable ingredients.
  • Packaging.
  • Resource and energy efficiency.

Eligible costs include university, research institute or college project costs, eg time, facilities and consumables.

The deadline for applications is 17 November 2021 (17:00 GMT).
