Funding for Delivery of a Sustainability Mentoring Programme in Wales

A national programme delivery fund will open for Expressions of Interest on 1 December 2021.

A grant totalling £2 million is to be awarded to support one successful applicant in delivering a programme of mentoring to community groups across Wales on how to take action on climate change and live in a more sustainable way.

The new fund, provided by the National Lottery Community Fund, will be accepting mentoring programme proposals from constituted voluntary organisations or public sector organisations working in partnership with voluntary organisations in Wales.

The proposed mentoring programme will be expected to last for at least five years and should feature:

  • The ability to attract diverse communities across Wales – the mentoring service will be for community groups from a broad range of Wales’ rural and urban communities.
  • Tailored, bilingual support to help communities to develop plans, take action, learn from and share their experiences.
  • Experience in sharing knowledge, skills, and giving advice to others on a range of potential solutions to prevent and/or address the impacts of climate change.
  • A ‘monitoring and self evaluation toolkit’ for use by groups receiving grants from Sustainable Steps Wales.

Priority will be given to a programme that supports those whose circumstances mean they are less able to cope with the impact of climate change and communities not normally involved in climate action.

The programme fund will open for applications on 1 December 2021. The deadline for Expressions of Interest is 1 February 2022 (5pm).
