Fisheries and Seafood Scheme Open for Final Year of Funding
The Fisheries and Seafood Scheme provides financial assistance for projects that support the development of the catching, processing and aquaculture sectors, and for projects that enhance the marine environment. The scheme is now open to deliver its final year of funding, providing grants to match-fund projects over the coming year.
Up to £6 million is available to support proposals across a variety of areas, including:
- Health and safety
- Processing and production
- Partnerships
- Research
- Business diversification
Applicants whose businesses and/or vessels are registered in England may apply. To be eligible, the applicant must be one of the following:
- An individual or business engaged within commercial or sea fishing, aquaculture or processing.
- A public body/local authority in a local community that has a focus on fishing/aquaculture activities (including trust ports and local authority ports, and public bodies, using funds for environmental improvements/management of fisheries).
- A university or research institute.
- A new entrant to the industry or unemployed individual that could benefit from knowledge/skills in fishing/aquaculture activities.
Applications for smaller projects can be submitted throughout the year, while projects valued at £150,000 or more will need to be submitted in the spring to be reviewed by a panel.
Applications can be submitted now and will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis until the budget is exhausted.
