€15 Million EUREKA Call on Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Technologies Launched

A new Call for innovative projects in Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Technologies has been launched within the EUREKA initiative by a total of ten countries, including the UK.

Participants from Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Israel, Spain, Switzerland, South Korea, Turkey and the UK are invited to submit applied research and innovation project proposals in the thematic domains of Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Technology/Quantum sensing.

Consortia must include at least two (for profit) independent companies from two of the participating countries. The participation of research institutes/universities is also welcome according to each country’s funding regulations. Projects must involve technological risk, have a civilian purpose, and concern an innovative product, process or service. There must also be an obvious advantage and added value resulting from the technologic cooperation between the participants, such as increased knowledge base, commercial leads, or access to R&D infrastructure. Projects may not exceed 36 months.

Innovate UK has allocated up to £1 million to fund innovation projects through this Call.

To be eligible for funding the collaboration must include a UK business of any size. For industrial research projects, businesses can receive funding for eligible project costs of:

Up to 70% for a micro or small business

Up to 60% for a medium-sized business

Up to 50% for a large business

Research organisations in the consortium can share up to 30% of the total eligible project costs. If the consortium contains more than one research organisation, this maximum will be shared between them.

The deadline for submissions is 1 July 2019.

A EUREKA Global Innovation Day offering consortia building, pitching and matchmaking opportunities will take place on 16 May 2019 in Manchester. Registration for the event is now open. Interested organisations can also fill in a pitching proposal for a pitch lasting 5-8 minutes.
