COVID-19 Relief Funds for Wales’ Creative Industries

COVID-19 Relief Funds for Wales’ Creative Industries

Funding is available to help independent television production companies, games and other creative digital businesses that are unable to operate fully due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Creative Wales is operating two new grant schemes to help boost the country’s creative firms.

The Emergency Digital Development Fund (EDDF) will provide immediate financial support for games, animation, digital agencies and creative digital businesses during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The aims of the programme are to:

Support the retention of Intellectual Property (IP) by indigenous companies which, in turn, will enable them to grow.

Enable indigenous digital creative companies to develop new digital services and improve or introduce new platforms for the digitisation or distribution of digital content.

Grants of up to £25,000 are available to cover wages, freelancer costs, materials and resources specific to the project.

The Emergency TV Development Fund (ETVDF) provides immediate financial support for indigenous independent production companies. Support will be available for them to utilise the time, during which production cannot take place, to develop projects which will put them in a stronger position to secure commissions once a normal mode of working resumes.

This emergency funding is aimed at production companies, both scripted and non-scripted, based in Wales and where IP will be retained in Wales by Welsh companies.

Applicants can apply for up to £25,000 of funding. Eligible projects include; factual/documentary, drama, animation and comedy intended for TV broadcast.

The deadline to apply for both schemes is 18 May 2020 (17:00 BST).
