Access for All Mid-Tier Fund Set for Relaunch
Access for All funding is a government initiative to help improve the accessibility of Great Britain’s railways.
Launched in April 2011, the £37.5 million Mid-Tier funding programme was specifically aimed at improving railway stations to enable people with a disability to use the rail network more freely.
Network Rail-owned stations based in England or Wales or organisations which were engaged with its local railway station were eligible to apply.
All projects were completed by 2014.
Following the news of the 73 stations that will receive Access for All funding for upgrade projects, government announced that they intend to use £20 million of the funding to re-launch the Mid-Tier Access for All programme. This will be focused on stations where accessibility improvements can be delivered with between £250,000 and £1 million of government support.
Government will be seeking nominations for this funding in due course.
