£6.5m Fund Launched to Help Wales’ Manufacturers Move towards a Circular Economy
The Circular Economy Fund will help accelerate Wales’ shift towards a circular economy by increasing demand for recycled materials, keeping resources in circulation instead of being incinerated or ending their life in a landfill, and supporting the growth of businesses operating in Wales.
The £6.5 million Fund has been split into two separate programmes: a Small Scale grant rolling programme (budget £2 million); and a Large Scale grant competition (budget £4.5 million) which will fund capital plant, equipment and infrastructure in Wales.
Eligible businesses may either apply for a Small Scale grant from approximately £25,000 up to €200,000 or a Large Scale grant from €200,000 and normally up to £750,000.
Activities eligible for funding include both:
Capital investment in infrastructure and equipment, resulting in additional use of recycled materials in products, components or packaging produced in Wales.
Capital investment in infrastructure and equipment for products, components or packaging new to market and containing recycled materials, thus increasing the demand for secondary materials and the promotion of a circular economy in Wales.
Manufacturers in Wales seeking funding for capital investment – existing or new to market – may apply. The business can be any size but must be based in Wales.
The next deadline for Small Scale grants is 30 May 2019 and for Large Scale grants; 7 June 2019.
