Grants are available to organisations in Scotland undertaking new ideas to enhance and develop native woodland, and research the contribution of such woodland to biodiversity and carbon.
The Future Woodlands Research and Innovation Grants will support new ideas to enhance and develop native woodland and research the contribution of native woodland to biodiversity and carbon.
Future Woodlands Scotland is engaged in a range of activities related to the practice and demonstration of sustainable management of native woodland and related research.
Projects should contribute to one or more of the following priorities:
- Measure woodland biodiversity changes in native woods.
- Explore and measure the contribution of native woodland to carbon sequestration.
- Explore and measure the benefits of the expansion of native woodland to society.
- Raise awareness of the contribution of native woodland to sustainable development.
- Increase understanding of the contribution of native woodland to carbon mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
- Raise awareness of the contribution which sustainable management of native woods can make to environmental improvement, conservation of the natural heritage or the economic vitality of communities.
- Encourage communication and collaboration among parties interested in achieving the any of the above.
