Government Funding for COVID-19 Digital Data Projects

Government Funding for COVID-19 Digital Data Projects

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) have launched the Local Digital C-19 Challenge to respond to the need for digital and data-enabled approaches to council operations post-COVID-19.

Due to the time-sensitive nature of coronavirus/COVID-19 renewal, the MHCLG is taking a new approach with this special round in order to move things forward at pace and ensure outputs remain relevant. This is why this fund has specific thematic areas, a shortened timeline, and offers different funding options to ease the burden of procurement.

Applications are invited in three thematic areas:

Data and reporting

Community engagement

Developing new working practices.

Applications do not need to have a pure technology focus.

This challenge is open to local authorities in England only. Councils can apply for funding on their own – so they don’t have to find council partners as long as the outcome is relevant to, and usable by, other councils.

The programme is offering funding of up to £800,000 in total and councils can bid for up to £80,000 per project

The deadline for applications is 15 July 2020.

Selected projects will be announced the w/c 3 August 2020.
