Funding Available to Respond to Child Hunger in Northern Ireland During Coronavirus Crisis

A new £100,000 funding programme has been launched to tackle child hunger in Northern Ireland during the coronavirus crisis. Constituted organisations that are working on a local level can apply for grants of up to £2,500. Priority will be given to small, locally based and locally run groups or organisations in areas of disadvantage that have a clear understanding of the needs of their community.

Eligible projects should support families with children under the age of 10 who may face food poverty as a result of the order to close schools and/or loss of household income as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. As the school closure order may run into the summer holiday period, the Fund is keen to support projects that can provide support across this entire period. The funding should also be used in a way that supports local businesses during the crisis.

Organisations are advised to apply as soon as possible as the Fund is expected to be heavily subscribed and might close for applications within a relatively short space of time.

The Fund is open for applications on a rolling call basis until all the funding is allocated.
