The Aquaculture Hardship Fund has been established to provide emergency support to shellfish and trout businesses that have lost all or part of their relevant market due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Grants will be paid to eligible aquaculture businesses most at risk of immediate financial ruin due to the disappearance of domestic and export food markets.
To apply, table producing shellfish and trout businesses are required to demonstrate that the business operates on a full-time basis and has suffered severe hardship as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Full-time table producing aquaculture businesses are defined as any authorised and active business that has recorded sales of aquaculture products either a minimum of £15,000 for shellfish or a minimum of £20,000 for trout in 2019.
The programme has a total value of up to £3 million to be provided through grants. The maximum level of grant for a new applicant may vary depending on the business and the application, with the absolute maximum available being £40,500.
Applications will close on 30 June 2020 (00:00 BST).
