Creative Scotland Reopens COVID-19 Bridging Bursary Fund with Additional £2m

Monday, 20 April, 2020

Funding is available to help sustain creative practice by freelance creative professionals in Scotland who have lost earnings due to the cancelation of work as a result of COVID-19.

The Creative Scotland Bridging Bursary Fund provides financial support for individual creative practitioners and/or freelancers who are most deeply impacted and disadvantaged by the cancellation of work due to the coronavirus COVID-19 emergency. The Fund aims to help applicants sustain their creative practice in Scotland.

In order to support as many people as possible, Creative Scotland has just announced an extra £2 million of funding, taking the programme’s total available funds to £4 million. One-off bursary payments of between £500 and £2,500 are available to help support immediate needs.

This is a fund for individual artists and freelance creative practitioners who derive a significant proportion of their income from working in the not-for-profit sector in Scotland who have lost income from their creative work and/or practice due to COVID-19.

A second round of requests for funding is now open. The intention is that this round will close on Friday 25 April 2020, however, the funder may need to close submissions earlier if demand outstrips the funds it has available.
