£150,000 Competition for COVID-19 Digital Solutions

£150,000 Competition for COVID-19 Digital Solutions

The Welsh Government has announced a new funding competition for digital solutions to help fight coronavirus (COVID-19). Through the COVID-19 Digital Solutions Fund, support is available for between five and eight projects to rapidly pilot products and solutions.

The competition is open to any UK business that has a digital solution to fight COVID-19. It is hoped that supported projects will change the way people are diagnosed, treated and managed by the health service. The Fund will support the rapid piloting and evaluation of new digital platforms, apps and technologies to determine their long-term use and potential in the health service.

From a total budget of £150,000, selected companies will receive Welsh Government funding of up to £30,000 each to develop or test their solutions over a 6-8-week period.

Solutions must be developed and ready for testing during the application process. They will be judged by an expert panel from the Welsh Government, NHS Wales and the NHS Wales Informatics Service (NWIS).

Helen Northmore, from the Life Sciences Hub Wales, which will be co-ordinating the responses to scheme, said:

‘This challenge fund is a perfect opportunity to test and develop technologies which offer the largest impact and best value solutions during coronavirus and beyond.

‘We are delighted to support this competition – this fund will enable rapid evaluation of potential digital innovations for health and care delivery in Wales.’

The deadline for applications is Monday 8 June 2020.
