F Factor Competition for Tech Savvy Young Entrepreneurs Reopens

The F Factor is a start-up competition designed to provide young, aspiring entrepreneurs with tools, skills-training and context to bring their ideas to life. It provides opportunities to collaborate with peers, interact with mentors and gain access to work experience.

Through regional pitching events across the UK, the programme awards funding to exceptional ideas for apps, games or technology businesses. Entrants are asked to submit a prototype of their tech solution, which can be anything that can be put in the hands of end-users and to enable them to interact with the solution. This can include hardware prototypes or wireframes for software solutions.

There are two categories which make up the programme; those aged 14 to 18 and those aged 18 to 25. Regional finals will take place in Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, London and Bristol. There will be one winner, per region, per category. Each will be awarded £1,000 in equity-free cash and the chance to represent their region in the National Finals. The five regional winners will present at the National Final where selected winners in each age category will each be awarded £10,000 in equity-free cash.

The funds can be used to launch a company; however, it is entirely up to the winner how they spend the money. For example, they may wish to use it to develop an idea, or perhaps invest it in infrastructure, such as a new computer set-up or undertake a research trip abroad.

Participants have until 25 January 2020 to enter their online submission.
