Community Participation Funding for Northern Ireland Sports Organisations

A new programme offering funding to community sports organisations in Northern Ireland for innovative projects which support the engagement and re-engagement of participants into sport, particularly people from groups who have been especially impacted by COVID-19, is open for applications.

Through the first application strand of the programme to open, sports organisations that are working collaboratively can access grants of £10,000 to £25,000 to develop participation projects.

To be eligible, applicants must be:

A constituted sports club which is affiliated to a governing body of sport recognised by Sport NI.

A community or voluntary organisation that delivers or enables sport and/or physical recreation as its primary activity.

A charitable trust that delivers or enables sport and/or physical recreation as its primary activity.

There is a particular focus on collaborative projects that support the following priority groups:

Women and girls.

People with disabilities.

People with long-term limiting illness.

Children and young people, especially those aged between 11 and 18.

Older people aged over 50.

Black and ethnic minority communities.

People on a low income.

Families.

People living in areas of greatest need.

Projects must be delivered by 31 March 2022.

The deadline for applications is noon on 1 March 2021.
