The GRANTfinder database contains all the information necessary to find and apply for financial assistance; however, knowing how to use the system to best effect can impact greatly on the number of funding sources identified.

Our courses are interactive, informative and fun. You will go away with a great deal of confidence and the ability to effectively extract the information you need from GRANTfinder.

Options

Sector Specific Courses

These one-day courses are held in the training room at the GRANTfinder offices in Worksop, Nottinghamshire Click here for venue location.

The day is very intensive, and alternates between in-depth presentations and group activities on case studies. Each trainee is provided with their own laptop. These intimate courses provide an opportunity for attendees to meet other people who work in the funding environment and to share best practice. click here for a typical programme outline

Training investment: £155 plus VAT per person.

Bespoke Training Courses

We now offer three different options:

2 GRANTfinder Foundation courses for up to 5 people in each course (total of 10 people). The Foundation course teaches users the basics they need to search GRANTfinder accurately.

This option is most suitable when you have between 5 and 10 people who need an introduction to using GRANTfinder.

Course duration: up to 2 hours for each module.

1 GRANTfinder course comprising a GRANTfinder Foundation module and a GRANTfinder Advanced module for up to 5 people. The Foundation module teaches users the basics of how to use GRANTfinder whilst the Advanced module offers guidance on more advanced search techniques; the importance of linking an application to policy; and advice on submitting funding applications.

This option is most suitable when you have 5 people who require more intensive training on how to use GRANTfinder.

Course duration: up to 2 hours for each module.

1 GRANTfinder Foundation course for up to 5 people and 1 one-to-one Practitioner course for the main GRANTfinder administrator. The Practitioner guidance can take a more flexible format and involves the trainer offering support on rolling GRANTfinder out and promoting it across the wider organisation; compiling stats on usage; managing sub-user accounts; and personalising newsletters.

This option is most suitable when: you have 5 people who require an introduction to GRANTfinder but who do not have the time to dedicate to a full day’s training; and a lead contact who wishes to become more confident in their role as GRANTfinder administrator.

Training investment: £695 plus VAT *

The above prices exclude travel expenses (charged from GRANTfinder's offices in Worksop, Nottinghamshire), plus overnight expenses (where warranted by the distance involved).

* In order to qualify for the special price of £695, the training must be completed on the same day.

Technical requirements

A PC connected to the Internet and linked to a projector and enough PCs connected to the Internet for each attendee to have hands-on use.

The courses are presented by experienced senior GRANTfinder Researchers who draw on an in-depth knowledge gained by continual monitoring of the funding environment.

GRANTfinder training: typical programme outline

The GRANTfinder training course combines a presentational angle and intensive hands-on work. It is designed to ensure that you become proficient with every aspect of the database and will change your approach to future searches.

The typical format of a one-day course in Worksop is as follows:

  • Introduction to the course

  • Becoming 'Fund Ready' - Accessing Special Features to help you put together key documents (eg constitution, fundraising strategy, business plan and budget) to accompany your applications.

  • Identifying Funding for Your Projects - Covering the principles of the GRANTfinder Project Search including how to: choose the most relevant project activities; set up a location group unique to your area; edit search results; and produce a final report of funding opportunities.

  • Group work on case studies

    Hands-on computer work to identify those parts of live projects that are most likely to attract funders and translating this into running the most appropriate search.

  • Lunch Break

  • Putting Together a Strong Application - Learn how tracking policy trends through POLICYfinder can help bolster your application.

  • Maintaining a Watching Brief over Funding Changes - Learn how to keep up-to-date with new funding opportunities and upcoming deadlines through our interactive Update Bulletin, Deadlines Database, Newsflash service and Auto Update Notifications.

  • Individual work on case studies

  • "Quick Fire Quiz"
